The Fatberg Phenomenon
For Yarra Valley Water, a campaign was created to address the issue of clogged sewers caused by wet wipes being flushed down toilets. These flushed wipes contribute to the formation of fatbergs—large, solid masses of congealed grease, oils, and non-biodegradable items that block sewer systems.
To raise awareness and inspire behavioural change, "Fatberg" was created, a character embodying the problem. Fatberg was designed to personify the messy and disruptive consequences of improper disposal in a way that was both comedic and relatable. Through a series of engaging scenarios, we illustrated how wet wipes contribute to this problem while encouraging audiences to take simple, actionable steps to prevent it.
